Dried seaweed ARAME. They have a complex but delicate umami flavour. Arame is hand harvested in the Ise-Shima Protected Area of Japan.
This algae has a slightly salty, mild taste, which is why it is called “beginner’s algae”. Arame can be used in a wide variety of dishes, and is great in miso soups, salads, as a side dish or with soba and udon noodles.
How to use?
Rinse thoroughly, soak for 10 minutes and pat dry. Fry briefly and boil or stew for 5 minutes. Use as a side dish or add to stews or salads.
