Shoyu sauce has a slight alcoholic aftertaste due to the fermentation of the wheat. It is therefore best to add it at the end of cooking so that the sauce does not lose its characteristic flavour.
Shoyu goes well with pickles, wok dishes, rice, noodles, sushi, sashimi and sautéed vegetables.
