Organic ground cardamom
Cardamom powder has a rich history stretching back more than 4000 years, originating in the tropical forests of India, Nepal and Bhutan. In ancient Egypt, they were highly prized for food and incense, while the Greeks and Romans used them for wine, desserts and perfumes. In the Middle Ages, cardamom became a valuable commodity on the Silk Road, and today it is still an important part of the cuisine and culture of South Asia and the Middle East, symbolising hospitality and warmth.
Today, cardamom powder is valued for its aroma and flavour enhancing properties. It imparts a unique sweet and spicy flavour to both sweet and savoury dishes and is often used in tea, coffee, rice dishes, stews, curries and baked goods. In small quantities, they can enrich desserts, fruit or yoghurt with their aromatic touch, and they often appear in spice blends such as garam masala or chai masala.
In addition to its culinary value, cardamom is valued for the soothing aroma and the richness that it brings to traditional dishes and drinks. Its versatility and historical importance make it a cherished ingredient in many cultures.
