Organic Japanese roasted green tea Hojicha


Hojicha is a rather coarse type of green tea. The earthy and slightly smoky flavour of hojicha is obtained when the tea leaves are gently roasted in drum ovens immediately after picking. For a slightly fresher hojicha, a slice of lemon or orange can be added to the slightly cooled tea. Want a sweeter taste? Add a little maple syrup.

Directions
Use 1 teaspoon of hojicha tea in 250 ml of water. Prepare hojicha in the traditional Japanese way: heat a cup of tea in hot water. Place the hojicha in a tea strainer in a teapot and pour in water at a temperature of about 85-90 °C. Steep for 1-2 minutes. If you are pouring a second time, steep for another 30 seconds.
