Flaxseeds are small, flat, shiny seeds, usually brown or golden in colour, with exceptional nutritional value and a wide range of nutritional and health uses. They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids and are also high in fibre and protein.
It is recommended to grind the flaxseeds before consumption, as whole seeds cannot be absorbed by the body. They can be added to porridges, smoothies, yoghurt, baked goods, used as an egg substitute (mixed with water) or simply taken with water on an empty stomach to improve digestion. It is an extremely valuable and natural superfood.

How to use?
Flaxseed should be taken ground with plenty of liquid (water, juice).
However, if whole flaxseeds are to be used, it is recommended that they are swollen in warm water before use. The beneficial properties of flaxseed are enhanced and revealed when flaxseed is mixed with honey or jam.
It is important to stress that flaxseed oil is not suitable for frying, as it not only loses its nutrients when heated, but also releases trans-fatty substances that are harmful to the body at high temperatures.
Grind flaxseeds and use them in porridges, yoghurt, kefir, healthy green smoothies and cottage cheese. It can also be added to salads, sauces, stews or soup just before eating. Garnish your salad with flaxseed. It is important not to overcook flaxseeds, as this will cause them to lose all their good qualities, so it is best to add them at the end of the cooking process or before serving. Ground flaxseeds can be stored in an airtight container for up to six months and will not lose their nutritional properties.
